Challenge

Skyhigh Security operates in what is known as the Security Service Edge (SSE) space – an essential but niche segment of cybersecurity, it’s an integral part of securing enterprise data in the cloud and on-prem. Following the divestiture from McAfee Enterprise in 2021, Skyhigh needed an entirely new identity and brand that could compete in an already crowded market. While the company has a solid legacy of technology and solutions going back a decade, SSE itself poses a communication challenge: it combines multiple security functions into a single framework, making it complex for buyers to understand. Time constraints posed an additional hurdle – we needed to quickly establish Skyhigh Security in a very short window to meet business demands. When I joined the team, the branding process had already begun and we immediately jumped into long hours using what was provided to produce new collateral, brand assets, and a website. But critical components were missing, and substantial work lay ahead.

 

As the saying goes, moving fast often means things break, and compromises are inevitable. Over the coming months, we needed re-examine all foundational aspects of the brand: color palette, typography, photography, iconography, style guide, and visual language. Our goal was to deliver clear, relatable outcomes that address customers’ security needs while simplifying the narrative.

Solution

We rooted our approach in Skyhigh’s mission, vision, and values – crafting a simple and impactful concept, paired with a clean, modern palette that conveys reliability, trust, and confidence. This foundation extends beyond just a logo to a cohesive experience that brings the customer into Skyhigh’s perspective. The concept and visual language were tested and refined as additional assets were developed, ensuring that it could scale while holding up across all marketing channels and deliverables. 

Results

The result is a bold and cohesive brand identity that stands out against larger competitors while communicating reliability and security. By streamlining the visual language, we clarified our message, allowing our value to shine, while driving increased recognition. We set Skyhigh up for success by taking the time to go back and refine the brand’s foundation – which allowed us to extend visual development into new areas and grow effectively with the business.
